Auto insurance is unavoidable and everyone knows that if they purchase a car or other vehicle, they must also purchase automobile insurance. It is the law. However, while finding an auto insurance policy might seem simple, sometimes finding inexpensive insurance is not.

Basic car insurance called Limited Tort insurance, is cheap insurance that covers only the basics and is, in most cases, just barely enough to keep a car street legal. If the insured is in an accident, a limited amount is paid out after a deductible is paid by the insured.

This limited amount pays for medical insurance and property damages. However, a cap is placed on the amount and anything more that must be paid comes out of the pocket of the insured. Additionally, this type of policy prohibits a Limited Tort policyholder from suing for pain and suffering and other types of damages that would be covered under a liability policy.

A Liability policy covers the intangibles, including pain and suffering and any other damages not covered by the basic insurance policy held by the insured. Additionally, liability insurance will cover damages incurred by an uninsured or underinsured motorist in some cases. In other cases, a separate policy is needed to cover these damages. Full coverage is another type of policy that covers almost everything including liability, property damage, bodily harm, uninsured, underinsured and more. This coverage costs more, however, these costs can be lowered by paying a higher deductible.

No matter what type of car insurance is purchased, when driving a car all drivers are required to carry an SR-22. While each state has its own version of this form, they are all essentially the same. SR-22 forms are typically used when those who have been in accidents did not have the required insurance card with them at the time.

In some cases, such as when a driver is pulled over for speeding or other traffic infraction, a warning is given and the driver must produce an SR-22 within 24 or 48 hours. This is a situation that no driver wants to get caught in, since it can become an expensive hassle that is difficult to reconcile.

To combat both the high priced policies and the lack of cheap insurance, auto insurance companies have online brokers to assist any driver with their needs. These brokers can find the perfect policy for any driver’s needs, whether they want full coverage policy or limited tort and low cost auto insurance. They can meet the needs of every customer and are state governed and certified.

Looking for cheap insurance Chicago? 1st American Insurance Agency deals with dozens of insurance companies and we can find the right coverage for you. We can insure all drivers. Apply online for a free quote.

Obtaining full coverage auto insurance is the goal of many drivers who are interested in having the highest level of car insurance out there. Full coverage auto insurance is most often bought to cover newer cars, cars that are expensive to repair, and by families with multiple cars on the same policies. Whether you are new to full coverage or not, the goal is to obtain the best coverage at the most inexpensive price. In order to accomplish this, the savvy shopper should be patient and shop around until they find the best policy.

Finding the best full auto insurance can be accomplished by shopping around for various quotes online. The internet is the fastest and easiest place to receive competing quotes for full coverage. There are many websites out there that will act as your broker. These websites will take one piece of information from you, your zip code, and connect you with insurance companies that service drivers in your area. The key is to look into each company that you are matched with, tell them your desire is to have coverage, and request a free rate quote. Requesting multiple rate quotes will ensure you that you are getting the most bang for your buck. If you receive a quote you like you can make the decision to purchase it. If you don’t get any quotes you like, no big deal. All it cost was a few minutes of your time to shop around.

Full coverage auto insurance is a desirable level of coverage that is sought after by many, many people. Finding the best full coverage auto insurance requires the consumer to shop around and make an informed decision.

By receiving affordable car insurance quotes online I was able to save $105 per month.

To do the same, visit AutoInsuranceLocations.com and enter your Zip Code. Within a matter of seconds you will have quotes that will help you save as much as me, or more!

Car insurance is expensive. So when you hear about cheaper premiums, you may be tempted to abandon your current insurer and take advantage of the bargain. But that might not be your smartest move.

Car insurance is expensive. So when you hear about cheaper premiums, you may be tempted to abandon your current insurer and take advantage of the bargain. But that might not be your smartest move. Here’s why.

1. The cheaper insurers are probably cutting corners somewhere. At best, this can mean limited payment options–can you call them toll-free at 3 A.M. on a Sunday when you suddenly wake up and realize you forgot to mail your premium check and your coverage expired at midnight and pay by credit card so you can legally drive to church in the morning? At worst, you’ll have an accident and have a five-day wait because their only claims adjuster is at the other end of the state.

2. Sometimes the little companies don’t want to fight with the big companies. For example, suppose you’re in an accident with someone who’s insured by the big company, and the police leave it up to the insurers to determine who’s at fault. Instead of advocating for you, your company caves, pays the other guy’s claim and then hits you with higher premiums for the next three years to recoup their loss.

3. Depending on how long you’ve been with your current insurer, your loyalty may count for something–your insurer may not raise your rates for a minor traffic violation, for example.

4. The quoted rate may be a teaser rate “subject to underwriting approval”. A few weeks after you purchase the policy and pay the down payment, you receive a bill stating that the premium would be higher “due to new information.”

5. The new insurer may cancel your insurance if you get a single ticket.

6. You may find the new policy has unacceptable terms, such as requiring you to use a specific body shop or cheap aftermarket parts if your car needs repairs.

7. The new insurer may not be financially stable enough to pay out multiple large claims in a short period of time. While you might not be one of the claimants who isn’t paid, if the company goes under, you have to either go back to your old company or find yet another new company.

So before you jump to another company based on a lower premium quote, do your homework. Know what you’re getting for the money, and try to determining how the company can afford to offer such cheap premiums. You don’t want to find out too late that what they’re cutting is your throat.

How do I choose a Texas Insurance Company? When it comes to choosing the right car Insurance company in Texas, it can become a complicated task very quickly. Insurance companies in Texas range from small "mom and pop" agencies to industry giants with tens

1) Price

Price is not the #1 factor in determining your insurance coverage needs. However, it is a good place to start. You might be able to decide on a “Top 3″ based on your results and based on what you can afford. Remember, the information below combined with the cost, will help you determine which Texas insurance agency to go with. If you base your coverage on price alone, the odds are that you will probably end up regretting it. You can always find cheap Texas car insurance if you are looking for it.

2) Get references from the people who KNOW

Who better to get information than the people that deal with claims every single day? Local body shops deal with auto insurance companies all of the time. If you can take time to talk to a body shop manager for just a few minutes, you can rest assured that they will express their opinion on auto insurance companies. The best thing to do is talk with two or three body shops if you are going to talk with one to get a sound consensus.

3) Financial Strength Ratings

Financial strength has become much more important in the wake of AIG and other companies that have or would have failed if they had not been given loands. If you are dealing with a larger company, you can probably research their financial strength fairly easily. Smaller companies are going to be harder to research as they may not provide public records. If anything, the lesson that we learned was that financial strength does not equate to the size of the company. Basic research can help here. At any rate, you can research either the Standard & Poor’s or A.M. Best for financial ratings.

4) Department of Insurance

Each state has a Department of Insurance. Use this office to check the consumer complain ratio and the basic rate comparison. Below is the information for the state of Texas:

TEXAS DEPARTMENT of INSURANCE

P.O. Box 149104

Austin, Texas 78714-9104

(512) 463-6464

(512) 475-2005 (Fax)

Minimum Limits 20/40/15

5) Inquire about discounts you might qualify for such as a multiple policy discount.

One little known secret is that you can receive discounts to your overall policy if you combine or consolidate separate policies. Also, be sure to ask about discounts for a good credit score, driving record, safety equipment (i.e. ABS), etc.

The Bottom Line

The bottom line is that after you have done your research, made the proper phone calls to conduct interviews and you have all of the numbers right in front of you, ask yourself, “Which Texas Insurance Agency company feels right? That’s right, overall, which company do you feel most comfortable with based on all of the information you have. It’s not all about the numbers.

Recommendations

The bigger companies like Geico will probably be there for you. However, as we have seen, sometimes insurance companies can be too big. Yes…they have the financial backing but the bottom line is that they will lack a little bit of that “small town” feel where you can actually build a long-term relationship.

If you really like to deal with the smaller to mid-sized insurance company in Texas, then you might want to check out Texas Discount Car Insurance. The ownership is sound and they are working to establish the same success that they have seen in the Austin area throughout the state of Texas. The owners of this company also established the very successful EZ Insurance Agency which has 5 locations in Austin, TX.

Everyone wants the best car insurance coverage, but not everyone appreciates the variables that affect coverage, and the pitfalls that can occur if the wrong type of coverage is chosen. This article will set these things straight and after reading you’ll have a clearer sense of how to move forward with your motor vehicle insurance.

1. Third Party Or Full Coverage?

This is an important question to consider when looking for insurance. The answer and decision should be based firmly on your personal circumstances. Third Party might be cheaper, but if you lead a high risk lifestyle (commute long distances, drive in congested areas etc) then it might not be the best option for you. Also, Third Party may not be the best option if your car has a high replacement value, since if it’s totaled and there is a third party, only their car will be fixed or replaced.

2. How To Maximize Savings

Most people nowadays can’t afford pricey car insurance, therefore it is in your best interest to do the things within your means to bring the cost of insurance down.

Things like fitting immobilizer and car alarms can reduce the cost of insurance by as much as 20%. When you get a quote, try increasing the deductible amount specified as this will reduce the cost the overall cost of insuring the vehicle.

If you have the money handy, you can also do a defensive driving course. This will show greater competence and insurance providers have been known to offer discounts to people who take and pass these types of courses.

3. The Online Factor

Lastly, when considering best car insurance coverage, use an online insurance provider. You’ll get the same amount of coverage offered by offline companies at a fraction of the cost. The process online is a lot more efficient too and it’s not uncommon to get a quote within minutes of submitting your information.

I hope this article has given you a greater sense of clarity regarding insurance coverage. Remember, the cheapest coverage may not be the best option for you, and where possible use an online provider when insuring your car.

Not all of us can afford the latest model car, nor can we change our cars every three years. But none of us can afford to neglect maintenance. It is hard to hand over the crisp folding stuff sometimes, especially when you have savings targets to meet or creditors to pacify. However, neglecting maintenance can hit you in the pocket when your auto insurance premium doubles due to an easily prevented accident. In fact, the cost of poorly maintained cars could be far greater than you ever imagined.

Consider this scenario. You are driving on the highway, the traffic is flowing freely. You are relaxed and enjoying chatting with your wife about the day you have had.

Auto insurance policies in general should not be taken for granted. There's some good protection information written in plain English that will help you at the right time. Pour a cup of hot tea or coffee and let's go over your insurance policy together.

There comes a time for all car owners to get familiar with the auto insurance contract they signed with their insurance provider. Some times this happens more abruptly and sudden, such as when the unthinkable happens and you’re sifting through the aftermath of a car accident and you’re looking for answers. Hopefully, that’s not the case… Hopefully you’re just a mildly cautious and conscientious person who is looking far enough ahead in the right direction and woke up one morning with the notion in mind to brush up on some essentials outlined in your auto insurance protection plan. Good for you.

Author’s note: I don’t know why they just don’t add insurance into the sticker price of the car. In every state all across this country, auto insurance is a standard requirement for all vehicles. It seems like the car manufacturers, insurance companies and drivers would be in a win-win-win situation. Back to the article…

Let’s go over the types of car insurance coverages available. Firstly, your state legislature requires that you possess a minimum auto insurance policy in order to legally operate a vehicle. And depending on your state’s legal system, some auto insurance coverages are required while some are only optional. Most states follow a tort system which means that someone must be found to be at fault for an accident, while others follow a no-fault system. States using a tort system tend to have lighter car insurance coverage requirements while no-fault state’s requirements are more robust.

Now, we know that you’re a responsible driver and you’re never going to get in an accident (knock on wood). So when the state requires you to get liability insurance, the insurance company is not providing you insurance for your protection… the insurance company is charging you a yearly premium for protection against you! And that goes for property damage liability coverage too! What you’re really doing by paying your premium for basic coverage is giving your insurance company piece of mind that you’re never going to be found at fault for an accident (in tort system states) and that they are never going to see a medical bill, auto repair bill or any other property damage bill which they would be otherwise obligated to pay! Sounds exorbitant doesn’t it? But, in every state, no matter what system they use, liability and property damage auto insurance coverage is a standard requirement. So, responsible driver or not, it’s here to stay.

Another coverage type which some states pick up as a requirement is uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. I find this coverage to be quite necessary. And if your state doesn’t require it it’s still good to have it added on in case one of these blokes side swipe you. Comprehensive and collision coverage go hand-in-hand and are rarely required by the state but they also provide great protection from unforeseen events.

The point is not to dig too deeply into your auto insurance policy and dissect every word, sentence and phrase. Just getting the gist is good enough. How’s your coffee?

Whenever we listen to the news and we hear that there is going to be bad weather the first thing we do is check to see when it is going to happen and will we be caught in it. Then we look to see if it will happen on our way to or from work. We look to see if it will be rain, ice or snow. Depending on where we live it may even be a hurricane and then we will see if they are talking about flood conditions.

If then bad weather is going to last a few days, we check to see what our gas situation is and if we need to pick up extra milk and bread. Pet food is another thing we check to make sure our animals are covered during the bad weather. We want to stay out of it but will need to be in it at the beginning to cover ourselves for the next few days. At anytime did you see us mention above anything about auto insurance, car accidents, road conditions, young drivers, old drivers as a concern? Why is it we do not have that high on our list too?

Start placing road conditions and auto insurance on the list to remind yourself that when the weather does change and you do have to be out on the streets driving someplace that there are others out there too that are not as experienced as you and may not drive as cautiously as you drive. When this happens there are opportunities here for accidents. The young teenager that really does not want to be out in the rain and drives too fast to get to store quickly so they can head over to their friends house. The older person who needs to get more medicine because they will run out driving too slow on the road making other drivers anxious and passing them too fast.

People that are not use to driving on wet road conditions may be surprised if they have to hit their brakes not realizing that the oil rises to the top of the surface on the road. They may slide sideways or fishtail unexpectedly into someone or something. If they have anti-lock brakes then they can easily lock their brakes and come to a screaming stop and scare everyone around them. When bad weather occurs be careful and watch out for yourself and for the other driver.

When you took your trip to the mountains you wanted to make sure that you had good tires on the car so you would not have trouble going up and down the hills and mountains. During the fall it was nice seeing the leaves turning the beautiful shades of orange, red and yellow. We would see the deer in the field and the squirrels running up and down the trees trying to store all the nuts they could find. There were a few fox in the corner and on the farms you caught sight of the horses in the barns.

It was difficult to watch small animals being hit and left in the road like a few squirrels or possum. It was something you understood because there was nowhere to go or any room to turn or swerve. You had an embankment on either side of the road. You wondered if you needed a tow how they would get you out of there or how would they find you. You made a mental note of the route and mile marker. Then you started thinking about your auto insurance and remembered you had towing service on it. As night fall was coming and the dusk appeared it was getting harder to see the animals. You certainly did not want to hit one. As soon as you thought about it then a deer ran across the road and you hit it. What a mess, to your car, the deer stopped and then slowly walked away. Your car on the other hand would not start and you had nowhere to go.

You called the towing service that your auto insurance listed and they were familiar with the area and told you there was a restaurant less than a half mile down the road if you wanted to walk to it. It was going to be a good two hours before they could come and get you. You put out your flares and left your emergency lights on. You had kept an emergency kit in your car ever since you read that article on your auto insurance website. Two hours later you were on your way to the hotel and your car to the body shop. Take extra caution driving at night, you never know what is going to jump in front of you.

In Washington a bipartisan group in Congress has put forward a plan designed to cut Americans’ auto-insurance rates by $45 billion a year; an average of $243 per driver. The proposal does that, say sponsors of the Auto Choice Reform Act, by giving drivers nationwide the option of participating in traditional auto insurance or choosing a “no-fault” policy.

“This is a really sensible idea,” Senator Joseph Lieberman (Democrat) of Connecticut said during a Senate hearing on the measure last week. “The potential here for savings is enormous.” The traditional insurance system allows drivers to sue each other and each other’s insurance companies to determine fault and assess damages for “pain and suffering.” Change is needed, the bill’s sponsors say, because this tort-based system costs consumers too much, clogs up the courts, and funnels huge sums of money away from victims and into the pockets of trial lawyers.

But no-fault insurance is not a new idea – and critics say that in states where it has already been implemented, motorists have seen their premiums rise faster than they would have under the tort-based insurance system. “After nearly 25 years of experimentation with no-fault…, the only conclusion that can be drawn is that this grossly unfair system is an absolute failure,” says Harvey Rosenfield, architect of California’s Proposition 103, a 1988 ballot initiative that rolled back auto-insurance rates and slapped strict controls on insurance companies doing business in the state.

The bill gives drivers a choice: They can stay in their state’s traditional program and retain the right to sue for pain and suffering. Or they can choose a “personal-protection system,” in which they trade the right to sue in return for prompt reimbursement of economic losses as outlined in their insurance policy – a system usually referred to as no-fault.

A state could adopt the bill as its own insurance law or exempt itself from the provisions. State officials could also exempt their states if they find the no-fault program would not reduce rates at least 30 percent for people with the personal-protection system. It is this partial preemption of state law that alarms opponents, including some states-rights advocates. While no state would be compelled to adopt the measure, these opponents worry the bill might be only the beginning of federal meddling in an area traditionally reserved for the states.

But supporters believe no-fault is the best way to control ever-rising auto-insurance costs. “The culprits behind the high cost of auto insurance are expensive, excessive pain-and-suffering lawsuits and the rampant fraud and abuse that too often accompany those suits,” says House majority leader Dick Armey of Texas, a bill cosponsor in the lower chamber. “Between 1987 and 1994, these forces combined to drive rates up 44 percent – 1-1/2 times the rate of inflation.”

Both sides cite studies to back their positions. Bill supporters point to a 1995 report by the California-based Rand Institute for Civil Justice, which shows that individuals suffering less than $5,000 in economic losses often get two to three times the amount of their losses under the conventional insurance system. On the other hand, those with economic damages of more than $100,000 often receive only 9 percent.

But a joint study by Mr. Rosenfield’s Proposition 103 Enforcement Project and Public Citizen, a national consumer group founded by Ralph Nader, concludes that no-fault states have the highest average car insurance cost – and their premiums are rising 25 percent faster than in other states.

Financial adviser and author Andrew Tobias, who supports the bill, says no-fault has not been fairly tested. Only Michigan has a true no-fault system that prevents most drivers from suing for pain and suffering, he says. And only Michigan offers unlimited medical benefits and “significant” wage-loss protection. “If this [proposal] is a terrible choice and doesn’t save people money, people won’t choose it,” he says.
