In the beginning I was surprised to see that there was a difference between baby seats and newborn seats for a car. It all depends on what the baby weighs is what seat you will purchase. In fact, before you can take the baby home from the hospital the staff has to see the car seat in order to make sure it is a safe one for the baby. If you have a premature baby then there are two different types of car seats that you have to look at before you can purchase one. Depending on their weight, if they are less than four pounds you may have to buy a car bed; it works like a bassinet but can be strapped into the seat. The reason for this is because if the baby was to be placed into the car seat their head would fall forward and they may suffocate.
